Women’s Ministries

Our Vision

To equip women to grow toward maturity in Christ through the study of God’s Word and encourage them to discover and pursue their God-given abilities and purpose.

Teaching/Training Ministries

Hungry Hearts Bible Study

Each Monday evening at 6:30 pm and each Friday morning at 9:00 am, ladies meet in the Toppin Building to study God’s Word and fellowship together. Childcare is provided through age 5 (on Fridays only). The summer months of May through July will not have Bible study sessions.

Annual Ladies Retreat

This event is a highlight each fall as we “get away” for two nights and three days. A special speaker provides a tremendous challenge for each lady attending, and there is plenty of time for fellowship and fun. This fall we will be going to Quaker Ridge Camp on October 5-7. Our theme is “Chilled but Filled” and Paige Ellis is our speaker. The total cost for the retreat will be $140.

Ladies Advance or One-Day-Retreat

Advance means “to help to move ahead, a progressive step forward.” These one-day seminars are planned to help “advance” each one in her walk with Christ. With a special speaker, great food, and lots of fellowship, each Advance is an event you do not want to miss. Be sure to check the church calendar for the next scheduled Advance or One-Day-Retreat.

Discipleship

God in His Word makes provision for the needs of His “younger women” by appointing the “older women” in the body of Christ to teach good things and encourage their younger sisters in the Lord. Discipleship is teaching believers to be exclusively loyal to Jesus Christ and to be personally accountable for reflecting His character and doing His works. A mentoring relationship is available for any woman who desires individual instruction and accountability.

Serving/Outreach Ministries

Secret Prayer Sisters (SPS)

Prayer sisters are assigned for a four-month period during which time each one remains anonymous and daily prays for the other. A special breakfast or dessert is planned at the end of the quarter for revealing each one’s identity and for fellowshipping together.

Prayer Chain

This consists of ladies committed to praying for urgent requests within our church family when they are received by the church office.

Showers (Bridal & Baby)

A wedding shower or baby shower is provided for one who regularly attends MHBC (first marriage or first baby) as a token of love for the new bride or mother.

Serving One Another

At times families within our church are in need of meals due to sickness, surgery, the birth of a child or the death of a family member. This ministry provides temporary provision based on the immediate family need. Arrangements may also include babysitting or house cleaning.

Hospitality

This ministry involves providing meals and housing for guest speakers, missionaries and traveling groups who minister to the MHBC family. It includes overseeing the use of the church houses on our campus.

Spice-Of-Life

Beginning in 2013, this is an evening designed to encourage fellowship with other ladies while learning a new skill or hobby, with a Christ and family focus. The cost is never more than $10/person and gives the opportunity to invite friends, family, co-workers, etc. to join us as well. Last year some of our topics include necklace making, painting teapots, scrapbooking, making Fall table runners & centerpiece, a Christmas cookie exchange and ornament making evening. Women’s Ministry Council

Women’s Ministries of Mesa Hills Bible Church is under the direction of the Women’s Minstry Council which is under the authority of the Elder Board. The Council consists of the leaders of each ministry as well as the wives of the Elders and pastoral staff.

Our purpose as a Council:

• To unite and participate in prayer for all ministries.
• To provide information, representation and coordination between Women’s Ministries, the Elder Board and the pastoral staff.
• To encourage, support and oversee the Women’s Ministries.
• To promote adherence to and support of the church’s philosophy of ministry.
